Carbimazole
An antithyroid drug that blocks the synthesis of *thyroid hormones. It is used for the long-term treatment of thyrotoxicosis (overproduction of thyroid hormones) and may also be given to decrease hormone concentrations before surgery to remove part of an overactive thryroid gland.
