A long-acting benzodiazepine used for the short-term treatment of anxiety and insomnia. It is also used to relieve the symptoms of alcohol withdrawal and to treat status epilepticus (repeated epileptic seizures), convulsions associated with fever in children, and chronic muscle spasm.
