Prolixin (Fluphenazine)
Drug Uses
Prolixin is used in treatment of psychotic disorders.
How Taken
Take Prolixin as directed by your physician with glass full of water. If given in concentrate form mix with 4 oz. orange juice or water.
Precautions
Do not use tea, coffee, cola, apple or grape juice to mix Prolixin concentrate with. This medication may cause drowsiness, use care when driving or around machinery.
Missed Dose
Take Prolixin missed dose as soon as remembered. Do not take extra doses of this medication. Never take double doses to make up for missed dose either.
Possible Side Effects
Constipation, appetite increase, drowsiness, mouth dryness, dizziness, irregularities in menstruation, restlessness and decrease in sweating are all possible side effects of Prolixin.
Storage
Keep Prolixin room temperature far from heat or moisture. Keep in a light resistant container also.
Overdose
If an overdose of Prolixin is suspected then call for emergency medical care immediately.
More Information
Alcohol must be used with extreme caution while on this medication. It can increase the side effects of drowsiness and dizziness on Prolixin. It can also cause sensitivity to sunlight so sunscreen should be used if outdoors.
