Drug Uses
Lipitor is used in the treatment of lowering high cholesterol.
How Taken
Lipitor is normally taken once daily at bedtime. Follow exact directions the physician gives you.
Warnings and precautions
Do not drink or eat grapefruits or grapefruit juice while taking Lipitor, this can cause an increase to side effects. No doses of Lipitor should be missed.
Missed Dose
If your dosage of Lipitor is missed take as soon as remembered.
Possible Side Effects
Gas, headache, constipation, weakness and upset stomach are possible side effects of this medication.
Storage
Lipitor needs to be kept between a 68-77 degree F room temperature and far from light, moisture or heat.
Overdose
If an overdose is suspected on Lipitor contact poison control or the emergency care facility nearest you for help immediately.
More Information
Dizziness could occur from taking Lipitor, use caution if driving or doing tasks that need you to be alert. If you are nursing or pregnant this drug should not be taken. Liver function tests and blood cholesterol tests should be done on a regular schedule for monitoring purposes on Lipitor, do not miss any appointments. A healthy diet and exercise should be included with this treatment.
